People upset with AMC’s White Topping road; heightened level to flood the properties

Ahmedabad: The citizens of Jodhpur ward in the city are worried about upcoming Monsoon season due to all possibilities of flooding in their houses due to increased height of the newly built road by the Amdavad Municipal Corporation(AMC).

The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) contractor B.R. Goyal has recently built the 1.13 km white-topping road from Omkareshwar temple to Sainik Petrol Pump in Jodhpur ward at a cost of Rs 5.63 crore.  The road’s uneven levels may cause waterlogging and accidents, the locals say demanding reconstruction at the contractor’s cost and vigilance department probe.

The road project, executed by AMC, failed to maintain proper levels, causing concerns about potential waterlogging during monsoons and the risk of accidents. The opposition leader in the AMC has submitted a written request to AMC commissioner M. Thennarasan, alleging contractor’s negligence and wasteful expenditure. The opposition leader has aldo demanded that the contractor must rebuild the road at his own expense to ensure safety and proper construction standards.

The AMC is constructing 22 white-topping roads across all seven zones of the city, but without maintaining the level. Those living on the both sides of such roads are not at all happy with the idea of increasing the height of the road, as it will surely cause waterlogging in monsoon on both sides of such roads. Standing Committee Chairman Devang Dani assured that action would be taken against responsible parties if any shortcomings are confirmed in the construction of the white-topping roads in Jodhpur.
