Yusuf Pathan has encroached on VMC land, alleges former councilor, demanding action

Vadodara: Former municipal councilor of Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC), Vijay Pawar, has alleged that former cricketer and Lok Sabha member Yusuf Pathan has illegally encroached upon the plot of VMC at Tandalja Town Planning Scheme number 22, final plot number 90.

Pathan who lives in Vadodara is recently elected as Lok Sabha member from West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee led Trinamool Congress Party (TMC) in West Bengal.

Pawar, in a letter to the Standing Committee of VMC, stated that Yusuf Pathan is using VMC land and has developed a garden and cattle shelter. Pawar has demanded that VMC should vacate this land. In his letter, Pawar pointed out that the state government had disapproved the proposal to allocate the plot to Yusuf Pathan without auction in a special case.

It’s worth noting that Yusuf Pathan had decided to build a bungalow on plot number 91 and demanded plot number 90 from VMC in a special case without auction due to security reasons. The proposal was for Rs. 57,270 per square meter for this plot on a 99-year lease. The proposal was moved in the Standing Committee meeting and approved on 30th March 2012. It was further approved in the general board meeting on 8 June 2012 and forwarded to the State government for final approval.

However, Urban Development Department under the State government, had informed the city municipal commissioner on 9 June 2014 that the proposal was disapproved. Despite this, Pathan has built a compound wall and started using the plot as if it is his own, stated Pawar in a letter demanding action into this. DeshGujarat
