Gujarat Minister rushed to UN Mehta Hospital; brain stroke suspected

Ahmedabad: Minister of State for Food and Civil Supply, Social Justice and Empowerment in the Government of Gujarat, Bhikusinh Parmar, has been admitted to UN Mehta Hospital today.

The Minister, who is the BJP MLA from the Modasa Assembly seat, complained of restlessness due to high blood pressure while having breakfast this morning. An ambulance was called, and he was rushed to the emergency ward of the U.N. Mehta Institute of Cardiology & Research Centre in the Asarwa area of the city. According to sources, he suffered a brain stroke; however, no official announcement has been made by the hospital.

It is noteworthy that today is the weekly cabinet meeting of the Council of Ministers of Gujarat, and due to his bad health, MoS Bhikusinh will not be present at the meeting.

Bhikhusinh Parmar began his political journey as a sarpanch. He contested the Assembly elections five times, starting in 1995 from the Modasa seat. In 2002, he ran as an independent candidate. In 2007, he contested with the BSP for the Modasa seat but was unsuccessful. In 2017, he ran again from Modasa with the BJP but lost by 1640 votes. In 2022, he was given a BJP ticket again, and this time he won the Modasa seat, becoming an MLA for the first time. Later, he went on to become a state-level minister in Bhupendra Patel’s cabinet.
