Surat: Three lab-grown diamonds worth Rs 44,400 were stolen from a Dholakia Technology office at the Gujarat Diamond Bourse. Hitesh Lashkari, the manager, reported the theft to Ichhapore police. The former worker responsible for the theft was apprehended with the help of CCTV footage and mobile surveillance.
The former worker Jignesh Vasoya, who had left his job three months ago, utilised his familiarity with the premises to carry out the crime. The police traced him using mobile surveillance technology. Investigation revealed that he had financial losses in the stock market, so he devised a plan to steal the diamonds.
On May 5th, he entered the office disguised with a helmet and uniform, managing to evade the security guard. After stealing the diamonds, he exited wearing the helmet and walked approximately 2 kilometres.
Upon his apprehension, the police recovered the stolen diamonds in Vasoya’s possession. He has been arrested and a case of theft has been registered against him at the Ichhapore police station. DeshGujarat
