June 25, 2024
Surat: Western Railway plans to redevelop 17 railway stations, including Udhna, Sachin, and Bhestan in South Gujarat at a cost of ₹513 crore under the Amrut Bharat Station Yojana. The project includes the installation of lifts, escalators, roof plazas, and railway overbridges to improve connectivity and convenience for commuters.
Under this scheme, 56 types of improvements will be made at the railway stations, including raising platform heights, constructing sheds, installing display boards, and adding waiting rooms. Moreover, escalators, lifts, plazas, retail kiosks, and railway overbridges will also be added. Work has already commenced at several stations, with allocated funds ensuring timely execution.
Furthermore, a talk-back system will be implemented across 10 stations in the Udhna-Jalgaon section. This system aims to facilitate clearer communication between passengers and ticketing staff, overcoming challenges posed by traditional glass partitions.
Suburban stations slated for redevelopment under this scheme include Marine Lines, Charni Road, Grant Road, Lower Parel, Prabhadevi, Malad, Jogeshwari Coaching Terminal, and Palghar. Non-suburban stations such as Umbargam Road, Sanjan, Vapi, Bilimora, Sachin, Bhestan, Bardoli, Nandurbar, Amalner, and Dharangaon will also benefit from upgraded facilities. DeshGujarat
