Rajkot: A three-year-old girl died in a tragic incident today after getting trapped under a lift in an apartment on Shivshakti Road in the city.

The incident occurred in Havlok Apartment near Panchayat Nagar Bus Stop. Marina, the three-year-old daughter of Bimal Karki, was playing in the building’s parking lot at around 10:30 a.m. today. She reached the lift while playing. Although the lift was not there, the door opened, and she fell into the empty space under the lift. When the lift suddenly descended, Marina was seriously injured. Residents rushed to the scene upon hearing her screams.

The apartment’s residents, along with her father Bimal and mother Krishnaben, arrived quickly. A lift engineer was called to open the lift and rescue the girl. However, Marina had already died. She was then taken to the civil hospital, where doctors confirmed her death. The civil hospital staff informed the university police, who took the necessary action, shifted the body for a post-mortem, and began further investigation.

It is worth mentioning that the deceased child was the only daughter of her parents. The couple had been living in the apartment for the past five months as watchmen. DeshGujarat
