Female constable was bringing liquor from Rajasthan: Kutch Police tell court

Kutch: The female head constable of CID (crime), who was apprehended on Monday along with an alleged bootlegger for purportedly attempting to run over pursuing police officers, was transporting liquor from Rajasthan in their vehicle, as disclosed by police to the local court in Bhachau on Tuesday.

Bhachau Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate D S Dabhi remanded both the accused, head constable Nita Chaudhary and Yuvrajsinh Jadeja, to judicial custody.

Nita and Yuvrajsinh allegedly tried to run over six policemen while driving a Thar car without a registration plate on Sunday evening. Police seized 16 bottles of liquor and two tins of beer from the car, which Yuvrajsinh stopped only when Sub-Inspector Dineshkumar Zala of Bhachau police station fired at the car.

In their remand application, the police stated that Nita had transported the liquor consignment from Abu Road town in the Sirohi district of Rajasthan, bordering Gujarat, and that Yuvrajsinh had joined her at a hotel in Samakhiari village on National Highway 41 in Kutch’s Bhachau taluka.

Meanwhile, while speaking to the media, the advocate for Nita and Yuvrajsinh opposed the application and questioned the police account of the incident.

He also informed the court that Nita is being framed by the Kutch East police. The counsel alleged that Nita is part of a CID (Crime) team conducting a confidential investigation in the area into a smuggling case registered in Mundra last year, involving two IPS officers, two inspectors, and other officials who are under scrutiny. Therefore, the local police have framed her. DeshGujarat
