Gujarat BJYM chief meets BJP cadres gravely injured in stone-pelting at Congress HQ
July 08, 2024
Ahmedabad: Dr. Prashant Korat, President of Bharatiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Gujarat, today visited SVP Hospital in the city to meet BJP cadres injured in the stone-pelting incident that occurred outside the State Congress headquarters in Ahmedabad.
The clash between the BJP and Congress cadres left several injured. One cadre is in dire condition due to a brain hemorrhage, and he may require additional surgery. Korat met with the injured BJP cadres and their families at SVP Hospital and offered assurances of support and assistance.
Korat accused Congress cadres of initiating the violence by throwing alcohol and acid bottles that were present in the Congress office. He further added that BJP cadres had gone to the Congress headquarters to seek an apology from Rahul Gandhi for his “anti-Hindu” remarks. The BJP cadres conducted a peaceful protest with placards, but Congress cadres used pipes, stones, and bottles in the attack.
Following the stone-pelting incident, the police arrested five Congress cadres, including Sanjay Brahmbhatt, Manish Thakor, Mukesh Dantani, and Vimal Kansara. The police had requested a seven-day remand, but the court granted only three days. The remand concluded at 4 p.m. on Saturday, and all accused were then sent to judicial custody.
Gulab Khan Pathan, an advocate of Congress party cadres, has filed for bail. The court hearing is scheduled for Wednesday. The five Congress cadres face charges under the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita. DeshGujarat
