Rajkot girl dies from electrocution by exposed wire on water-logged road

Rajkot: A 22-year-old college student died due to electrocution after coming in contact with an exposed electrical wire on a water-logged road in the city on Tuesday.

The incident occurred near Satya Sai Hospital around 8 pm on Nana Mava Road in Rajkot, where Nirali Kukadia was riding her two-wheeler. As she placed her foot near a streetlight pole on the water-logged road, she received an electric shock from a live wire sticking out from the pole into the water. She was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital but unfortunately passed away before receiving treatment.

Nirali’s father expressed concern, noting that other people had also received electric shocks at the same place prior to his daughter’s tragic accident. CCTV footage has surfaced, capturing the sequence of events leading up to the tragedy.

The Taluka police have registered an accidental death and initiated legal action. The police transferred her body to the civil hospital for a post-mortem and took necessary actions.

Rajkot Municipal Corporation Mayor Nayana Pedhadia instructed the lighting department to address exposed electrical wires across the city immediately. She emphasized the need for urgent repairs to prevent future tragedies. Maintenance work is mandatory before the monsoon, but this incident suggests lapses in the process, leading to this fatal accident. DeshGujarat
