GCAS admission process further tweaked; Nod to colleges for direct admissions, edit online details

Ahmedabad: Admission process in Under Graduate and Post Graduate courses in various universities including Gujarat University is further opened up within and beyond the scope of  Guajrat Common Admission System(GCAS). Colleges can now edit the basic details of applicants, tweak admission details, give conformation for direct admission to students who have applied online through GCAS or who have not applied online through GCAS. The collages are given go ahead for directly allocate admission to students by collecting a registration fee of Rs. 300.

To smoothly conduct the admission process for colleges via GCAS (Gujarat Common Admission System) for universities’ UG and PG courses for this academic year, Gujarat University (GU) has issued forms in the Allotment Menu of the GCAS portal login of the University-College.

As per the circular issued by GU on Thursday, with the help of these forms, colleges and universities will be able to edit applicants’ basic details, and admission details, give direct admissions, manually confirm admissions, and cancel admissions.

The Secretary (Education Department, Gujarat State) chaired an online meeting with the Director (Office of the Higher Education Commissioner, Gandhinagar), Maheshbhai Gohil (CEO, GIPL), and Chancellors of 15 government universities on Saturday, July 6. During the meeting, with the consent of all Chancellors, GIPL prepared forms in the Allotment Menu of the university-college GCAS portal login. Based on this, the university will carry out the admission process.

The forms below are only available in the login portal of the colleges so that the admission process on the GCAS portal and the UG enrollment/PG registration work can be carried out smoothly.

1 Edit Applicant Basic Details If a student has taken admission in a college, then the college can verify the student’s original documents and correct any errors in the following fields:

(1) Student’s name (2) Date of birth (3) Gender (4) Student’s category (5) Student’s disability (6) HSC / Graduate seat number, (7) Passing month and year (8) Admission allotted category
2 Edit Applicant Admission Details If there is a discrepancy/difference between the choice shown by the student in the registration form and the admission given by the college, then the student will have to cancel their admission as per serial number 5. Thereafter, admission can be given again as per serial number 3.
3 Direct Admission Confirmation Students who have applied online through the GCAS portal and whose college wishes to directly allocate admission to them under their admission rules can directly allocate admission to such students through the OTP received on the student’s mobile by entering the GCAS Application No. 
4 Admission Confirmation (Manual) Students who have not applied online through the GCAS portal can still get admission. Colleges can directly allocate admission to these students under their rules. 

The college must enter the necessary details of the student. The college will then collect a registration fee of Rs. 300. The college will then send an OTP to the student’s mobile and confirm.

The list of such students with their registration number and name and the registration fee should be submitted to GUAC by 05/08/2024 during office hours.
5 Cancellation Module Based on the student’s application, the college can cancel the admission of the student till 30/07/2024
