July 27, 2024
Banaskantha: Suzuki Motor Corporation has signed an MoU with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and Banas Dairy to establish a fifth biogas production plant in Banaskantha. Suzuki will invest Rs 250 crores in this project. The MoU ceremony took place at Banas Dairy’s Sanadar Plant and was attended by 2,500 local dairy farmers.
The three parties are establishing four biogas plants in Banaskantha and have now agreed to set up a fifth plant. The rural mobility service will use biogas to fuel Maruti Suzuki’s CNG vehicles, providing clean and affordable transportation. This service will initially be available in Banaskantha district.
Suzuki plans to invest over Rs 250 crores in establishing five biogas CNG plants in Banaskantha. These plants will be operational by 2025. The locations include Dhanera, Vadgam, Diodar, and Deesa. Banas Dairy will provide the land, while Suzuki will handle the investment and technological facilities.
Toshihiro Suzuki, Chairman of Suzuki, stated, “We chose Banas Dairy for the bio CNG project after a global study. Suzuki R&D India, NDDB, and Banas Dairy will collaborate with Japan’s Toyohashi University of Technology on biogas technology. This partnership will help design a more efficient plant.”
In 2019, Banas Dairy launched a pilot biogas plant in Dama village in Deesa to create a circular economy using animal waste. This successful project led Suzuki to partner with Banas Dairy and agree to establish four additional biogas plants. DeshGujarat
