July 30, 2024
Ahmedabad: Amdavad Municipal Corporation(AMC)’s health team today sealed a caffe in Western area of city after the count of Toal Polar Compound in cooking oil was found to be 71. The AMC team in routine checking drive visited The Brew Spot (tea pea cafe) located at Vijay char rasta in Navrangpura area. When cooking oil was checked for TPC, the count was found to be 71 which was in clear violation of rules.
Total Polar Compounds (TPC) serve as key indicators to assess the degradation and overall quality of oils during their usage and storage. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has set a maximum limit of 25% Total Polar Compounds (TPC) for used cooking oil. This means that cooking oil with more than 25% TPC is not safe for human consumption and should not be topped up with fresh oil. The FSSAI also prohibits restaurants and eateries from using the same batch of cooking oil more than three times.
Tea Pea cafe is located in Borivali, Dahisar, malad, Nashik, Kandivali, Malad East and at Maxus Cinemas as well. DeshGujarat
