7 flyover bridges closed for heavy vehicles in Surat

Surat: Surat city police has banned heavy vehicles on seven flyover bridges in the city including Sardar bridge. Due to this, heavy vehicles including buses and also school buses need to take longer route. In other development, the traffic on Sarli – Kadodara metro bridge has been diverted due to breakdown in a span of under construction elevated metro line. Traffic is diverted from this route as well. However the Metro rail engineers have conveyed that the traffic on this route will be opened on Saturday night.
The seven bridges that are shut for heavy vehicles’ traffic include Majuragate, Ringroad flyover, Sardar bridge, Sahara darwaja bridge and Kamela darwaja bridge. These seven bridges connect to Ring road in the city. Nearly one and half million commuters are affected due to this closure. Especially, over 125 textile markets are located around the ring road flyover. And therefore its closure is affecting maximum number of commuters.
Meanwhile, due to disruption in the city bus and BRTS bus services due to closure of multiple routes and related diversion,s the rickshaw drivers have started coughing up multifold fare from needy customers. DeshGujarat
