Rs. 1240 crore spent till June on Rajkot International Airport development: Centre

Rajkot: Around Rs. 1240 crore has been spent till June this year on the development of Rajkot International Airport in Hirasar, the Union government said on Monday.

Murlidhar Mohol, Minister of State for Civil Aviation, provided this information in Rajya Sabha in reply to a question by Gujarat MP Shaktisinh Gohil during the ongoing budget session of Parliament.

The MoS in a written reply states, “Airports Authority of India (AAI) in collaboration with Government of Gujarat (GoG) has developed the Rajkot (Hirasar) International Greenfield Airport. Out of the estimated project cost of Rs. 1405 crore, expenditure of approximately Rs. 1240 crore has been incurred on the airport development at the end of June, 2024. GoG had acquired and handed over the required land for the development of the project to AAI, free of cost and free from all encumbrances.”

On another question about the number of international flights being operated from this airport, the Union government said “At present, there are no scheduled international operations at Rajkot (Hirasar) International airport.” DeshGujarat
