Aaji-1 and Veri dams to get Narmada water under SAUNI scheme

Rajkot: The city of Rajkot is once again preparing to avoid shortage of water in the dams that supply water to the city. The State government will start supplying Narmada water under SAUNI scheme to Aaji-1 and Veri dams from Monday. While Aaji is at 19.50 ft level against 29 ft, Nyari is at 14.30 ft level against full level of 25.10 ft. The city municipal commissioner recently demanded 350 MCFT Narmada water for Nyari-1 and 400 MCFT water for Aaji-1 under SAUNI scheme. Gondal MLA Gitaba Jadeja also demanded 250 MCFT water for Veri dam. In view of this, the State government has decided to release water for all three dams under SAUNI scheme. DeshGujarat
