Work on additional infra for Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya in Gujarat is in ‘full swing’: Govt

New Delhi: The construction work to create additional infrastructure facilities for the academic needs of Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya at the National Academy of Indian Railways (NAIR), Vadodara campus commenced in March 2024 and is going on in full swing, the central government says.

This information was provided by Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw in a reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha during the recently concluded session of Parliament.

Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) has been set up as a Central University vide the Central Universities (Amendment) Act, 2022. The University is functional from the National Academy of Indian Railways (NAIR), Vadodara campus.

Gati Shakti University (GSV) has been envisioned as a multi-disciplinary, multi-dimensional institution specialized in transportation & logistics with focus on industry oriented approach and sector-relevant academic curriculum.

GSV is offering B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA and Ph.D Courses in different Technology and Management streams for students, executives and working professionals. The specialization area of these courses includes rail engineering, aviation engineering, ports and shipping logistics, and logistics & supply chain management.

The University has a sanctioned strength of 58 faculty positions against which 25 professors/Associate Professors and Assistant Professors are presently available. Faculty recruitment for the balance 33 positions is in process.

To fulfill its mission for providing high quality teaching, research and skill development in diverse disciplines related to transportation, technology and management, GSV has collaborated with various organizations (DPIIT, Karmayogi Bharat, CILT etc.), academia (IIM/Mumbai, BITS/Pilani, IIT/Gandhinagar, IIT/Jodhpur, Indian Maritime University etc.) & industries (Airbus, Nokia, Plasser, Jacobs, DMRC, Nippon Koei, Siemens etc.). GSV is recognized by the Economic Times for “Excellence in Industry-Academia Collaboration” earlier this year.

To meet the broader vision of the University, a Master Plan has been prepared to create additional infrastructural facilities for the academic needs of the GSV. The construction work for the same at the NAIR campus has commenced in March, 2024 and is going on in full swing.
