7 missing after tractor carrying 17 people swept away in Halvad

Morbi: A tractor trolley carrying 17 people was swept away in heavy water while crossing a flooded causeway on Sunday night in Halvad. Following this, a search operation is underway by the NDRF team to locate seven individuals who have been missing after ten out of the 17 were rescued in an overnight mission near Dhavana village.
“The tractor-trolley, carrying 17 individuals, was carried away while crossing a causeway (over a river) near Dhavana village in Halvad taluka at around 9 p.m. on Sunday. Ten people were rescued, while seven others remain missing,” stated Morbi fire officer Devendrasinh Jadeja.
Personnel from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are conducting the search efforts.
Gujarat experienced heavy to very heavy rains over the last 24 hours until 6 a.m. on Monday, prompting authorities to relocate hundreds of residents to safer areas as low-lying regions in Navsari and Valsad districts were flooded due to rising river levels.
