Ahmedabad: A 22-year-old migrant laborer from Dahod, living in a shanty near a government housing colony in Vastrapur, was electrocuted on Wednesday morning while removing water from a waterlogged shop in Thaltej. The victim, identified as Ashish Meda from Khanglo village in Dahod, had been in the city for about five months and worked as a casual laborer.
On Wednesday, while searching for work, he was assigned to pump out water from a flooded shop in a shopping complex near Surdhara Circle. Unfortunately, he received an electric shock and collapsed at the scene. Meda was rushed to Sola Civil Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The Vastrapur police have registered an accidental death case and initiated an investigation.
This incident is the third death in Ahmedabad recently due to rain and electrocution, following the drowning of 47-year-old Rajkumar Matreja in the Dakshini Underpass and the electrocution of 19-year-old Ashok Parmar in Sanand. DeshGujarat
