4 Swaminarayan monks among 8 booked in fraud case in Rajkot

Rajkot: In a case that has stirred controversy within the Swaminarayan sect, a complaint has been lodged against eight individuals, including four monks, for allegedly committing a fraud worth crores of rupees. The monks, who were expelled from the Vadtal Swaminarayan temple, are accused of misleading people by claiming they needed land to build a Swaminarayan temple.

According to the complaint filed by Jasmin Madhak of Rajkot at the Bhaktinagar police station, the accused, including JK Swamy, VP Swamy, MP Swamy, and Devprakash Swamy, extorted large sums of money from various individuals. The complaint includes video evidence of the transaction, indicating that the Swamis’ group has defrauded multiple people across Rajkot, Surendranagar, Viramgam, and Surat.

The group allegedly targeted both farmers and brokers, distributing token money among themselves. The accused are reportedly wanted in connection with similar crimes in Surat, Nadiad, Anand, and Viramgam. Jasmin Madhak, the complainant, stated that they were asked to arrange for 510 bighas of land, but neither the land nor the money was returned.

Madhak has called on the Swaminarayan sect to address the alleged scams within its ranks before advising others and has urged the Chief Minister to register a case under the Gujarat Control of Terrorism and Organized Crime (GUJCOTOC) Act. DeshGujarat
