ACB book two Railway staffers in DRM office Bhavangar in bribe for NOC case

Bhavnagar: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has nabbed two Class-3 staff members of the government in a bribe case involving a sum of Rs. 15,000.

Accused Kalubhai Dubal is an Office Superintendent (OS) in the Nirman branch of the DRM office of Western Railway in Bhavnagar. Another accused, Prashant Pandya, is a clerk in the same office.

According to the ACB, the complainant in this case is an electrical contractor who runs a consultancy to manage the No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from the Railways.

The complainant had filed an application on May 20, 2022, for an NOC for construction on land in Limdi, Surendranagar district, located next to the railway limits. The complainant discovered that the NOC was issued at the Bhavnagar DRM office. When the complainant visited the DRM office, the two accused demanded a bribe to hand over the NOC. The complainant agreed to pay the Rs. 15,000 bribe in 15 days and received the NOC.

The accused repeatedly contacted the complainant to demand the bribe money and threatened to block other NOCs in the future.

As the complainant was unwilling to pay the bribe, he contacted the ACB, which then arranged a trap. Accused Dubal was apprehended after receiving the bribe money.
