Ahmedabad: A 24-year-old man from the Ranip area of the city was apprehended at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport on recently for attempting to fly to Canada on a fake visitor visa. The accused, Krupesh Patel, has been booked for forgery and cheating. However, what is interesting in this case is that he had previously been charged with forgery in 2019 when he tried to do the same thing and depart from Mumbai.

According to the FIR filed at the IGI Airport police station, Patel approached immigration authorities seeking clearance to board flight AI 187, presenting a Canadian visa with the number E731696672. However, during the inspection of his travel documents, doubts arose about the authenticity of the visa, and the matter was referred to a Canadian official. Later, the ALO confirmed via email that the visa in Patel’s possession was indeed counterfeit.

It is learned that Patel had previously been stopped from boarding a Canada-bound flight on April 10, 2019, at Mumbai Airport, and a forgery case was registered by the Mumbai police. Delhi law enforcement is now working to trace the visa agent who supplied Patel with the counterfeit document.

Patel has been booked for cheating, forgery, and presenting forged documents as genuine under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with additional charges under the Passports Act. DeshGujarat
