Driving test track closed for a week at Rajkot RTO; 3,500 license applications affected

Rajkot: Very heavy rainfall and strong winds have been lashing the city, causing several trees to fall. In one such case, the RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) camera was damaged after a tree fell on the track where people take driving tests for two-wheelers and four-wheelers at the city’s RTO office. Additionally, the camera wires were dislodged due to the strong winds. As a result, the driving test track has been closed for repairs for a week, leaving around 3,500 applications for driving tests to obtain permanent licenses pending.

Rajkot RTO officer Ketan Khaped informed that the automated driving test track at RTO Rajkot will remain closed until Wednesday, September 4, for repairs, and is expected to be restored by Thursday, September 5. However, due to this closure, those coming to obtain a permanent license will face difficulties. The fallen trees have now been cleared from the track, but the camera wires, which were damaged by the fallen trees, are still being repaired, causing delays in reopening the driving test track.

He also mentioned that driving tests for two-wheelers and four-wheelers scheduled between August 29 and 31, as well as on September 2, were canceled due to heavy rain and wind. The driving tests were halted due to technical issues caused by damage to the track. All appointments have been rescheduled for later dates. As a result, 3,500 appointments have been rescheduled over the course of the week. Additionally, those seeking a driving test appointment to obtain a permanent license now face a 15-day waiting period, causing further inconvenience for motorists. DeshGujarat
