Four MoUs inked for investment of Rs 1.79 lakh crore in RE sector in Gujarat

Gandhinagar : On the second day of the 4th Global Renewable Energy Investors Summit and Expo (RE-INVEST 2024), held at Mahatma Mandir here, a total of four MoUs were signed for an investment worth Rs. 1.79 lakh crore in the renewable energy sector in Gujarat.

Two of these MoUs were inked between government companies, while the other two were signed between private companies and government entities. An MoU was signed between Avaada Energy and Gujarat Power Corporation Limited (GPCL) for a green hydrogen project worth Rs. 85 thousand crore. Another pact was inked between Juniper Green Energy and Gujarat Energy Development Agency (GEDA) for setting up a renewable energy project worth Rs. 30 thousand crore.

In the pacts signed between government entities, an MoU worth Rs. 59 thousand crore was signed between Gujarat State Electricity Corporation (GSEC) and Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL), while another MoU was signed between Power Grid Corporation of India Limited and the Gujarat Government for an investment of Rs. 5 thousand crore.

Addressing the Gujarat session, the CM Bhupendra Patel mentioned Kutch’s 37 GW hybrid energy park, four semiconductor plants, and Gujarat’s sector-specific policies, particularly the renewable energy and green hydrogen policies. He encouraged stakeholders at the RE Summit to study and take advantage of these initiatives.

Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi, Gujarat Energy Minister Kanubhai Desai, former Norwegian Minister of Climate and Environment Erik Solheim, Chief Secretary Raj Kumar, and Chief Advisor to the Chief Minister Hasmukh Adhia were also present at the session.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel launched the ‘Mission 100 GW of Renewable Energy in Gujarat’ and unveiled the ‘Gujarat Energy Vision 2047’ during the event. DeshGujarat
