Rs. 255 crores allocated to Surat, Rajkot, and Gandhinagar civic bodies for road works

Surat: Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has sanctioned a total of Rs. 255.06 crore to the three Municipal Corporations of the state under the Swarnim Jayanti Chief Minister’s Urban Development Scheme for urban road works.

Accordingly, the Surat Municipal Corporation has been directed to widen existing roads, construct new roads, and build footpaths and CC (cement concrete) roads. For various 579 works involving road construction and resurfacing, the Chief Minister has given in-principle approval to allocate Rs. 181.50 crore.

CM has sanctioned Rs. 60.78 crore for 12 different urban road works to the Rajkot Municipal Corporation, in addition to the Surat Municipal Corporation. An amount of Rs. 12.84 crore has been sanctioned for road renovation works in the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation area.

In the last four years, under the Swarnim Jayanti Chief Minister’s Urban Development Scheme, the Urban Development Department of the State Government has allocated, Rs. 740.85 crore for 1493 works to the Surat Municipal Corporation, Rs. 168.94 crore for 29 urban road works to the Rajkot Municipal Corporation, and Rs. 57.68 crore for 07 works to the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation.
