Surat: Surat Crime Branch police today nabbed Anish Khan from Govandi in Mumbai, who was wanted in four separate cases of narcotics. The accused had been operating a drug trade in Surat while residing in Mumbai and had smuggled drugs worth ₹51 lakh into Surat city so far.
Based on intelligence, a team from the Surat Crime Branch was keeping watch on the accused drug mafia, Anish Khan, also known as Mamu Abdul Waheed Khan. Posing as Ola drivers for two days, the Surat Crime Branch team arrested Khan from Shivaji Nagar in the Govandi area of Mumbai.
During the interrogation, Anish confessed that he was in contact with peddlers secretly selling drugs in Surat and was sending narcotics to Surat through these peddlers, using various trains and road routes. About six months ago, Anish suffered a leg fracture in an accident while riding his moped. Unable to walk, he managed the drug distribution network remotely from Govandi, Mumbai, with his peddlers handling the transportation of MD drugs to Surat.
Multiple cases have been registered against Anish at different police stations in Surat. Within a year, he had been involved in four separate crimes, which put him on the police’s radar. On 1/5/2024, the police arrested Mohammad Tokir, also known as Hanif Shaikh, with 197.42 grams of MD drugs, and Anish Khan’s name surfaced as the primary drug supplier. A case was subsequently registered at the Surat Crime Branch Police Station.
On 23/6/2024, Rabiyabi Abdul Rajak Sheikh and Safiq Khan Babu Khan Pathan were arrested outside Surat Railway Station with 252.34 grams of drugs, which they had brought from Mumbai. Anish Khan’s name again surfaced as the main supplier.
On 24/6/2024, 28.790 grams of MD drugs and 1.930 grams of cannabis were recovered from Sarfaraj alias Salman alias Ghadiali Yakub Patel at Pal, where Anish was named as one of the main accused. On the same day, Rander Police arrested Faisal Allarkha Kachara and Yasin Babul Mulla with 31.55 grams of MD drugs, once again linking Anish as the key supplier.
Two cases were registered against Anish at the Crime Branch Police Station, and one each at Pal and Rander Police Stations. To date, Anish had smuggled drugs worth ₹51 lakh from Mumbai to Surat city. The police have now arrested the accused and have started investigating whether he is involved in any other crimes or criminal conspiracies. DeshGujarat
