October 09, 2024
Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel today inaugurated the new campus of the Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration (SPIPA) in Gandhinagar. Emphasizing the importance of proactive efforts among government employees, he stated that issues arise when individuals adopt the mindset of “this is not my job.”
The newly constructed facility aims to assist candidates in preparing for competitive exams. Alongside the Gandhinagar center, CM Patel also inaugurated SPIPA’s new office and hostel in Ahmedabad.
In his address to government employees and officials, the Chief Minister stressed the crucial role they play in ensuring the smooth operation of the state. He acknowledged that while no department should be ignored, some employees express dissatisfaction with their placements, with some wondering, “Why am I in this department?” and others perceiving their assignments as a form of punishment.
CM Patel encouraged employees to refrain from labeling departments as “good” or “bad” and to approach their responsibilities with a positive attitude. He shared a recent example of a teacher’s transfer that brought tears to an entire village, highlighting the profound impact of dedicated service.
Additionally, he urged employees to evolve from being mere government workers to becoming “Karmayogi,” or individuals dedicated to their duties. He reminded them that their cooperation with public representatives is vital for the state’s functioning, stating, “Without you, we cannot operate. Ultimately, it is you who must sign the documents.”
SPIPA is an autonomous training institution in Gujarat focused on enhancing the skills of public servants. It offers a variety of training programs and professional development courses for government employees and civil service aspirants. The institute also provides training and orientation for new recruits and in-service government officers to strengthen their administrative and management capabilities, as well as coaching for competitive exams like the UPSC Civil Services Exam and GPSC (Gujarat Public Service Commission).
