Vijapur: A school child lost his life due to an electric shock while arranging the systems for a school function. Police have nabbed five school staff members, including the principal, in this case.
Saint Joseph School is located in Khanusa village of Vijapur taluka in the Mahesana district of North Gujarat. On Wednesday, students were preparing for the celebration of the Navratri Mahotsav in the school campus. Some students touched a steel ladder that was in contact with an overhead power line. A class-9 student, Aryaraj Upendrasinh Sisodiya, died on the spot due to the electric shock, while three other students suffered injuries.
During the police investigation, it was prima facie found that the students were asked to perform tasks that should have been done by technicians. Moreover, despite having a large ground, the school management decided to set up the mandap next to the power line, which was gross negligence.
Police have arrested five accused, including Joy Peter Pumabra, Principal of the school, Rakesh Vaghela, Hasrat Baloch, Kaushal Patel, and Razak Saiyed. The principal and administrative staff member Kaushal Patel were sent to police custody until Monday evening, while the other three staff members were sent to sub-jail by a court. – DeshGujarat
