Ahmedabad Crime Branch nabs 51 illegal Bangladeshi citizens

Ahmedabad: In a major operation, the Ahmedabad City Crime Branch has nabbed around 51 individuals of Bangladeshi origin on the suspicion of living in India illegally. The police detained these individuals after questioning around 200 people in the case. The 51 individuals who have been detained for living illegally in the city were found to have fake forged documents on them.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Ajit Rajian stated that more than 200 individuals have been questioned in this matter.
There are cases involving foreign nationals illegally infiltrating India, engaging in illegal activities, or residing unlawfully in the country. It has also come to light that documents such as Aadhaar cards and PAN cards were fabricated by these nabbed individuals. Legal action will be taken against these detained individuals as the further investigation proceeds.
Minister of State for Home Affairs, Harsh Sanghavi, commended the efforts of the Crime Branch on X, writing, “Kudos to the Ahmedabad Crime Branch! Based on thorough investigations into ongoing forgery and counterfeit document cases, 51 illegal Bangladeshi citizens have been detained. Legal procedures have begun, and they will be sent back to Bangladesh.”
