7 held for smuggling hybrid cannabis from Vietnam via Ahmedabad Airport

Ahmedabad: The Airport Police on Monday apprehended seven individuals, including a woman, for allegedly smuggling 7 kilograms of hybrid cannabis from Vietnam. The suspects were detained outside Terminal 2 of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPIA). According to authorities, the cannabis was hidden inside a cushion placed within a bag. A senior police official noted that investigations are underway to determine how the suspects managed to pass security checks in Vietnam and at Ahmedabad Airport.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone IV) Kanan Desai stated that the seized hybrid cannabis, weighing 7.05 kg, has an estimated value of Rs 2.1 crore. Four suspects allegedly transported the drugs from Vietnam, while three others were there to receive them.
One suspect, identified as Asraf Khan, remains at large. Those arrested include Safaraz Vadgama (35), Shoaib Bichara (22), Akhil Kolad (24), and Nadeem Amreliya (28) from Junagadh; Farhan Sheikh (30) and Sahej Miyana (34) from Ahmedabad; and Manisha Kharadi (26) from Gandhinagar.
As per the to police, Sahej, Farhan, and Manisha had come to collect the arriving suspects. The police became suspicious and discovered the hybrid cannabis upon inspection. DeshGujarat
