Ring Road 2 in Rajkot to be expanded to 4 lanes
November 09, 2024
Rajkot: Plans to upgrade the city’s Ring Road 2 into a four-lane highway have picked up pace. Both the Rajkot Urban Development Authority (RUDA) and the Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) have begun preparations to widen this road, which starts in the Smart City area and connects Jamnagar Road with Gondal Road.
The RMC has devised a plan worth ₹110 crore for the 9-kilometer stretch under its jurisdiction, while RUDA has outlined a plan for ₹82 crore. The RMC will expand Ring Road 2 from Madhapar Chokdi to the city limits, creating a four-lane road, with the remaining section to be developed by RUDA.
Ring Road 2 is presently in poor condition, with sections becoming muddy and impassable during the last monsoon, leading to road block protests. The RMC had previously announced plans for a complete reconstruction of the road, and a pre-bid has already been completed. RUDA has also issued tenders and initiated steps to expand the road from its boundary to Gondal Road. DeshGujarat
