Vav assembly by-poll: Gujarat BJP suspends rebel candidate Mavji Patel and four others
November 10, 2024
Gandhinagar: Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has suspended five party members from primary membership as per instructions by the Gujarat BJP chief C.R. Patil.
Among those suspended are Mavjibhai Patel (Director of Banas Bank), Laljibhai Hamirbhai Chaudhary (Patel) (Ex-Chairman of Bhabhar Marketing Yard), Devjibhai Premabhai Patel (former Chairman of District Kharid Vechan Sangh and Director of District Kharid Vechan Sangh), Dalrambhai Nagjibhai Patel (Chairman of Bhabhar Marketing Yard), and Jamabhai Bhurabhai Patel (former General Secretary of BJP Suigam Taluka unit).
All of these five suspended party men are from the Chaudhary community. The suspensions are apparently in connection with the Vav assembly by-election, in which party man Mavjibhai Patel (Chaudhary) is in the fray as a rebel candidate against BJP candidate Swarupji Thakor and Congress candidate Gulabsinh Rajput.
Mavjibhai aims to damage BJP by attracting Chaudhary votes that conventionally favor the BJP candidate. The party has suspended Mavjibhai and his four key supporters ahead of polling in the Vav assembly by-poll, which is going to take place on November 13. DeshGujarat
