Ahmedabad: Two days after the killing of MICA student Priyanshu Jain, the Ahmedabad Rural Police released a sketch of a suspect on Tuesday. Jain was allegedly stabbed to death in a road rage incident in the Bopal area on Sunday night.
Jain, a second-year MBA student at MICA, was fatally stabbed by an unknown assailant shortly after being fitted for a suit in preparation for upcoming job interviews. The police, who shared the suspect’s sketch on Tuesday afternoon, assured confidentiality to anyone who could help identify the person responsible for the stabbing, which reportedly followed an argument over overspeeding.
As of Tuesday evening, police continued their investigation, reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify the vehicle and the suspect, according to Inspector BT Gohil. The suspect has been charged with murder under Section 103(1) of the BNS and Section 135 of the Gujarat Police Act for violating public order.
In response to Jain’s tragic death, MICA has decided to cancel its annual marketing event, MICANVAS. “In light of the recent tragedy, MICA has postponed the upcoming MICANVAS event, originally scheduled for November 2024,” stated MICA’s Registrar, Shubhra Gaur. Gaur further mentioned that, to provide comfort and support to all students, MICA has extended the hours and availability of on-campus counseling services. Additionally, 24/7 counseling support is now available by phone. The institute also partners with an online mental wellness provider, allowing students to access counseling sessions remotely with a counselor. DeshGujarat
