Road from expressway to Amit Nagar circle closed; Vadodara police announce alternate routes

Vadodara: The road between Ahmedabad-Vadodara Expressway and Amit Nagar circle in the city will be closed for two years to facilitate the construction of a flyover by the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC), as per a notification from Vadodara City police. Vehicles traveling to and from the expressway must use alternate routes to commute between Amit Nagar circle and Dumad bridge. The Rs 56-crore flyover will span a traffic island featuring the iconic abacus sculpture, relocated to the Sama Lake crossroad in 2017 from Akshar Chowk in Mujmahuda.

According to Wednesday’s police notification, the stretch between Dumad bridge and Sama canal junction, as well as the road from Abacus circle to Amit Nagar bridge, will be closed to all traffic starting November 22.

Light motor vehicles can use alternate routes via Sama Canal junction, heading right towards Sama-Chhani canal road, Vishwakarma circle, and Mamlatdar office junction, continuing to Mangal Pandey Road and L&T circle. Alternatively, they can turn left from Sama Canal junction to Matrubhavan junction, Sherwood junction, and Sama link road.

For access to the Vadodara-Ahmedabad Expressway, light vehicles may proceed from Manek Park Circle to Airport Road and Gada Circle, continuing to the Golden bridge. Alternatively, they can travel via Urmi bridge junction to Metro hospital and old Octroi Circle towards Golden bridge.

Heavy vehicles, including state transport and Vitcos buses, can take the route under Dumad bridge to Golden bridge via Harni road, passing Manek Park Circle, Gada Circle, and old Octroi Circle to reach Amit Nagar Circle. A second route for heavy traffic is from Dumad bridge to Fertiliser bridge, then Chhani road, Nizampura, and Fatehgunj via Old Octroi Circle. DeshGujarat
