Ahmedabad: The work on the 1.4 km-long Thaltej-Thaltej Gam section of the East-West Corridor of Ahmedabad Metro train services has been completed. The inspection of the route by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety was conducted recently, and the route is likely to be operational by December 15th.

This route falls under Phase 1 of the Ahmedabad Metro Rail project, which was launched in October 2022. However, metro services were only operated up to Thaltej due to pending work on this section. The delay in this route was caused by land acquisition issues, court cases, and other technical challenges.

It is noteworthy that track and station modification work is still ongoing. However, by December 15, the metro will run all the way from Vastral Village to Thaltej Village.

It is also learned that in preparation for the bid to host the 2036 Olympics, the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation is planning to extend the metro from Thaltej to Manipur and from Shilaj to Motera. DeshGujarat
