Rajkot: The Food Department of Rajkot Municipal Corporation has levied a fine of ₹7 lakh on food business owners after 11 samples taken were found to be adulterated. The civic body is also filing cases in the matter.
The civic body team, while inspecting a sample of Vanilla Ice Cream from “Satya Vijay Patel Soda Factory,” located near Prahlad Cinema on Sar Lakhaji Raj Road, Rajkot, found that the milk fat content was lower than the required standard. As a result, the sample was declared “substandard,” and legal action is being initiated against the manufacturer.
Similarly, a sample of “CREAMYLITE PIZZA CHEESE (from 1 kg pack)” taken from “Gowaliya Food Products,” located on Gayatri Nagar Main Road, Rajkot, was found to contain foreign fat (vegetable fat). This sample was also declared “substandard,” and proceedings for an adjudication case have been initiated.
During a surveillance check on Raiya Road with the Food Department team and FSW van, a total of 58 business owners selling food items were inspected, and 10 business owners were issued warnings regarding their licenses. DeshGujarat
