Gujarat govt rewards Valsad police team with cash prize for arresting inter-state serial killer who murdered 8

Gandhinagar: The incident of rape and murder of a 19-year-old girl in Pardi, Valsad district is very tragic and painful and I pray that such an incident never happens in any state, Minister of State for Home Affairs Shri Harsh Sanghvi said this. He said he took this incident very seriously and congratulated the Valsad Police and the Gujarat Railway Police and Lajpore Jail personnel for catching the vicious, cruel, merciless and inhuman serial killer who had committed numerous crimes including 8 murders in several states. The crime was detected in a few days with a strong team’s hard work day and night in catching the fearless inter-state serial killer. For this commendable work, 172 police officers and employees were given a cash reward of Rs. 12.09 lakhs by Minister of State Harsh Sanghavi and State Police Chief Shri Vikas Sahay at Gandhinagar.

Sanghavi said that Gujarat is still the safest state in the country, the credit for this goes to the citizens of the state, Gujarat Police and all the forces. I am proud of the way in which, when a crime is committed in Gujarat, the Gujarat Police, understanding the seriousness of the crime, works day and night with the help of strong teamwork, technology and human intelligence to find the criminals within a few hours.

Sanghavi further said that this serial killer, who confessed to committing a total of six crimes found in Karnataka, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Gujarat, has further confessed to two more murders during police interrogation. In addition to eight serious crimes like rape and murder, this criminal has committed more than 13 other crimes like truck theft, Arms Act, attack on government servant. If the Gujarat Police had not caught this serial killer, it would have been difficult to say and even guess where this killer would have gone and committed crimes.

Sanghavi said with sympathy that if this criminal, who killed daughters by strangling them in so many states, had been caught in the crime earlier or had not been granted bail on human grounds, he would not have been able to reach our 19-year-old daughter of Pardi area of Gujarat today. When this criminal is sentenced to death in Gujarat itself, the family of this daughter and the citizens of Gujarat will get justice. Valsad Police has been instructed to take strict action by filing a charge sheet against this criminal in a very short time and attaching strong evidence so that he is sentenced to death.

Giving a message that Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel has congratulated all these police officers and employees, the Minister said that after reading the proposal of reward amount for the police officers and employees who have done this commendable work, the state government, on the directions of the Chief Minister, has appreciated the hard work of the police team and has doubled this reward amount, which will inspire the police officers and employees of other districts to investigate any case seriously in the same way.
