40 students from Gujarat University to visit Kumbh Mela 2025 to carry out research

Ahmedabad: Gujarat University has been invited to participate in the upcoming Kumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh. As part of this invitation, approximately 40 students from various departments of the university will visit the Kumbh Mela to conduct research on different aspects of the event and prepare a report. The Kumbh Mela will take place in Prayagraj from January 13 to February 26, with an estimated 40 crore devotees expected to attend this year.

As a large-scale festival lasting several weeks at a single location, the Kumbh Mela is discussed not only across India but also globally. The event, held every 12 years in different parts of the country, serves as a subject of study for people from various fields. Gujarat University has been invited to conduct research on the management and organization of the Kumbh Mela in eight different areas, a request the university has accepted. A team of 40 students will visit Prayagraj to carry out their research and prepare a report on the event.

Gujarat University’s Vice Chancellor, Nirja Gupta, mentioned that the students will focus on aspects such as crowd management, security and police arrangements, reasons behind devotees attending the event, food distribution, the economy, market dynamics, and how the Kumbh Mela promotes national unity and cultural heritage preservation.

The students will also explore the role of social media and traditional media in the event, its impact on the state’s tourism sector, health care and disaster management, the use of technology, environmental conservation efforts, and transportation planning.
