Surat: The construction of the Ubharat-Aabhava bridge has commenced, with the foundation work now underway. This cable-stayed bridge, which will connect the Aabhava area of Surat district to the Ubharat area of Navsari district, will be built at a cost of ₹198 crores. The bridge will be 13 kilometres long and is targeted to be completed by April 2026.
The bridge, which is being built over the Mindhola creek, received initial approval in June 2021. Tenders were issued in 2022, and in November 2023, Unique Construction was awarded the contract. Work on the pillars began after the design was approved. So far, only 5% of the work has been completed, stated KP Sakdasariya, Deputy Executive Engineer, R&B, Sub-Division.
This bridge will provide direct connectivity between Surat and Navsari, linking the textile hub PM Mitra Park, which will open up new opportunities in industry and tourism.DeshGujarat
