Vadodara MP, other BJP MPs file police complaint against Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi: Vadodara MP Dr. Hemang Joshi of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) filed a police complaint against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of “physical assault and incitement” during a scuffle at the Parliament premises today. The complaint calls for his indictment under sections related to attempted murder and other charges.

BJP MP Hemang Joshi, accompanied by party colleagues Anurag Thakur and Bansuri Swaraj, submitted the complaint at the Parliament Street Police Station. The scuffle occurred near Makar Dwar of Parliament House this morning, resulting in injuries to former minister Pratap Chandra Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput.

Speaking to reporters outside the police station, Thakur demanded a full investigation and an FIR under several sections of the IPC, including attempt to murder, causing hurt, endangering life, and criminal intimidation. “We have filed a complaint under Sections 109, 115, 117, 125, 131, and 351. Section 109 is attempt to murder, Section 117 is voluntary causing grievous hurt,” Thakur said.

In his complaint, Joshi detailed the events, stating that around 10 a.m., he and several other NDA MPs were peacefully protesting at the Makar Dwar entrance of Parliament. They were demonstrating against “misinformation” spread by opposition parties, particularly the Congress. Joshi alleged that Rahul Gandhi arrived around 10:40 to 10:45 a.m. and, despite security instructions, forcefully moved toward the protesters, disrupting the demonstration and attempting to harm the NDA MPs. Joshi accused Gandhi of instigating members of the INDI Alliance to act aggressively, putting the MPs in danger.

Joshi further claimed that Gandhi and his supporters used physical force to push MPs Mukesh Rajput and Pratap Rao Sarangi, who were standing on the narrow stairs at the entrance. Rajput sustained a head injury, and Sarangi was injured on his forehead. BJP MP Dr. Byreddy Sabari, a qualified doctor, provided first aid to the injured.

Thakur also accused Gandhi of inappropriate behavior towards a female BJP MP from Nagaland.

In turn, Congress filed a complaint, alleging that BJP MPs had physically manhandled Rahul Gandhi. A group of Congress MPs, including Digvijaya Singh, Mukul Wasnik, Rajiv Shukla, and Pramod Tiwari, visited the police station to file their complaint. Meanwhile, the BJP delegation was still inside the office of DCP Devesh Kumar Mahla when the Congress leaders arrived. DeshGujarat
