Ellisbridge MLA Seeks Removal of Encroachment on Rs. 200 Crore AMC Plot in Jamalpur by Congress leader

Ahmedabad: Ellisbridge MLA Amit P. Shah has, in a letter to the Municipal Commissioner, requested the removal of encroachment from around 10,000 Vaar of Municipal Corporation land in the Jamalpur area of the city. The plot is FP 5/3 TP-1, and its market value is approximately Rs. 200 crore according to Shah.

Shah said a scrap market (Kabaadi market) has been set up on this land by encroachers. Shah, in his letter, stated that this plot is located on the Jamalpur Darwaja to Astodiya Darwaja road. The slum dwellers on this plot, around 50 in number, were relocated in 2015 to Sarkari Vasahat and Sarkari Awas units by AMC. However, they rented out their allocated units and refused to vacate the encroached AMC plot.

Jamalpur ward Congress chief Kaiyum Ahmed Kureshi and his brother Ahmed Kureshi, alias Doctor, along with their aides, have established a large scrap market on this plot over the last 10 years, Shah stated in letter.

Shah further stated in his letter that a Bakra Mandi (goat market for slaughter) is set up every year ahead of Bakra Eid on this land, and illegal rent is collected from it. The land, worth crores of rupees, is being illegally used by the Congress chief and his associates as though it is their personal property. Such anti-social elements must be booked for illegal land grabbing through a police complaint, and crores of rupees should be recovered from their properties. The land should be vacated, and a compound wall should be constructed around it.

Shah also demanded in his letter that the AMC demolish a five-storey illegal building constructed around 2020, next to Gujarati School No. 18, Mochi Hall, near Makhdum Shah Bawa Dargah, Machhi Pith, Jamalpur Chakla, by Salimkhan Pathan and Bashir Badarkhan Pathan, both of whom are anti-social elements. Shah stated that the land belongs to Jagannath Mandir. As the students and teachers stopped coming to the school, a rear gate was created, and the property was illegally used.
