Rs. 1000 crore approved for development work in 27 civic bodies of Gujarat

Gandhinagar: Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has approved a total of Rs. 1000.86 crore for urban infrastructure and amenities in 17 municipalities, 7 municipal corporations, and 3 urban development authorities.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the “Swarnim Jayanti Chief Minister Urban Development Scheme” in 2010, in response to the increasing urbanization and the growing population in Gujarat.
Today, the Chief Minister sanctioned Rs. 1000.86 crore for various projects under the Swarnim Jayanti Chief Minister Urban Development Scheme. These include road repairs, stormwater drainage, street lights, water pipelines, and the construction of new roads.
Under the Chief Minister Urban Road Scheme, a total of Rs. 141.37 crore has been approved, including Rs. 7.75 crore for road repairs and new construction in Mundra-Borai Municipalities. The Chief Minister has also sanctioned Rs. 25 crore for Junagadh, Rs. 47.53 crore for Jamnagar, and Rs. 54.88 crore for Bhavnagar for road development.
The scheme also includes a focus on public-private partnership projects, with a 70:20:10 funding ratio for works such as paving blocks, house connections, and water pipelines in private society areas.
In addition, Rs. 34.78 crore has been approved for urban municipalities like Dhanera, Viramgam, Dwarka, Anand, Kadi, Nadiad, and Manasa, and Rs. 1.60 crore has been allocated for the municipal corporations of Vadodara and Gandhinagar.
The government has also sanctioned Rs. 148.11 crore for the development of outgrowth areas, including roadwork, street lighting, and water pipelines in cities like Junagadh, Bhavnagar, Rajkot, and several others.
A total of Rs. 611.39 crore has been approved for infrastructure development in major cities, including Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Jamnagar, and Bhavnagar, focusing on stormwater drainage, roads, and underground sewer lines.
The Chief Minister also approved Rs. 4 crore for garden and amusement park development in Thara Municipality.
Since 2010, a total budget of Rs. 61,977 crore has been allocated for the Swarnim Jayanti Chief Minister Urban Development Scheme. The state government has provided Rs. 32,647 crore in grants for the development of 67,360 infrastructural works across urban municipalities. DeshGujarat
