FIR against Congress party’s Rajya Sabha MP in Jamnagar over provocative video

Jamnagar: A complaint has been filed at the City A Division in Jamnagar against Congress’s Rajya Sabha MP Imran Pratap Gadhvi and former Leader of the Opposition in the Jamnagar Municipal Corporation, Altaf Khafi, after RS MP posted a video on social media that had provocative music in the background from a mass wedding ceremony held in Jamnagar on social media.

Recently, a mass wedding event was organized to celebrate Altaf Khafi’s birthday. The event, organized by the Sanjari Charitable Trust, included the marriage of 51 couples. Rajya Sabha MP Imran Pratap Gadhvi was present at the event. During the mass wedding, a video was recorded, and Imran Pratap Gadhvi posted it on his account on the social media platform ‘X.’ The video featured provocative music in the background, prompting a complaint by Kishanbhai Deepakbhai Nanda at the City A Division.

The FIR filed at City A Division states that a 46-second video, taken from the mass wedding event organized by Sanjari Education and Charitable Trust, contains background music titled ‘Ek Khoon Ke Pyaase Baat Suno Agar Haq Ki Ladai…’ The music and video are said to incite disharmony and provoke religious and communal tensions. The complaint was filed on the 3rd January.

 

The complaint names Rajya Sabha MP Imran Pratap Gadhvi, former Leader of the Opposition and Corporator Altaf Khafi, and other members of the Sanjari Charitable Trust. District Police Chief Premsukh Delu provided information about the case in a press conference, stating that an investigation is ongoing. The accused have been booked under various sections of the BNS, including Section 57 for enticing 10 or more individuals to commit a crime and another section related to hurting religious sentiments.
