Gujarat govt implements Disturbed Areas Act in more areas of Anand town
January 13, 2025
Anand: The Gujarat government today announced that it is implementing the Gujarat Prohibition of Transfer of Immovable Property and Provision for Protection of Tenants from Eviction from Premises in Disturbed Areas Act, 1991, in more areas of the town. This move follows the government’s assessment that public order in the affected areas was severely disrupted for an extended period.
Under the powers conferred by Section 3 of the 1991 Act, the government has declared specific areas in Anand town as “disturbed areas.” These areas, detailed in the annexed schedule, fall under the jurisdiction of the Anand Town police station and include several properties identified by their respective TP Numbers, FP Numbers, and Survey Numbers.
The government has set a five-year period, from January 13, 2025, to January 13, 2030, as the designated duration for these areas to be considered disturbed. During this time, all transfers of immovable property within these areas will be deemed null and void. Furthermore, no property transactions can take place without the prior approval of the Collector of Anand District.
The government also announced the delegation of powers exercised by the Collector of Anand under the Disturbed Areas Act. In a notification issued today, the government has transferred the authority to the Prant Officer and Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Anand, District Anand. This move empowers the Prant Officer and Sub-Divisional Magistrate to exercise all powers vested in the Collector under sections 4, 5, and 5A of the Act. This decision aims to streamline administrative functions and enhance the enforcement of the Act in the disturbed areas of Anand. DeshGujarat
