January 24, 2025
Jamnagar: The Indian Air Force’s Suryakiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT) will take to the skies over Gujarat once again on Saturday and Sunday, January 25th and 26th, to perform an airshow in Jamnagar. Nine Hawk Mk132 aircraft will showcase aerobatic maneuvers around 2:15 PM near Khambhaliya Road, at the ground near Swaminarayan Mandir and Samarpan Hospital.
The Suryakiran Aerobatic Team was established in 1996 and is the only nine-aircraft aerobatic team in Asia, while being among the few in the world. The team has performed in India and foreign countries, including the UAE, Thailand, China, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and Myanmar. SKAT has completed over 700 airshows. The team’s motto, “Sarvada Sarvottam,” means “Always the Best.”
Earlier this week, SKAT performed its first show of 2025 in Vadodara, featuring nine Hawk Mk132 aircraft license-manufactured in India. The 14-pilot team is led by Group Captain Ajay Dasarathi, with Deputy Leader Group Captain Sidhesh Kartik. The technical team is headed by Wing Commander Abhimanyu Tyagi, while Flight Lieutenant Kanwal Sandhu serves as the commentator and administrator, and Squadron Leader Sudarshan is the team’s doctor.
Like Vadodara, the audience in Jamnagar can expect breathtaking maneuvers, including loops, rolls, head-on crosses, buzzes, and inverted flying. The team will also perform the signature DNA maneuver, where five aircraft form a helix shape in the sky, representing the DNA structure. DeshGujarat
