Ahmedabad much better than our cities: youths from across India opine after attending Coldplay event

Ahmedabad:  The Coldplay concert at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad became a landmark event, showcasing not only world-class musical performances but also the city’s extraordinary transformation into a modern cultural and entertainment hub. Visitors from across India and beyond were left in awe of the city’s infrastructure, cleanliness, and vibrant atmosphere, all of which have undergone significant improvements in recent years.

With over 100,000 attendees, the concert once again highlighted Ahmedabad’s capabilities to host large-scale international events. For many visitors, it was their first exposure to the city, and they were quick to notice how Ahmedabad has evolved into a global destination for tourism and events. It’s worth mentioning here that the same Narendra Modi stadium hosted reception of U.S. President Donald Trump. It also hosted the World Cup final match. The city is likely to host Olympics in 2036 and preparing for the same.

“Ahmedabad Surpasses Expectations” – Visitors Praise City’s Transformation

For concertgoers traveling from cities like Mumbai, Bangalore, and Delhi, the transformation of Ahmedabad was a pleasant surprise. Many were particularly impressed with the city’s infrastructure, which stood in stark contrast to other Indian cities.

One visitor, @aaraynsh, tweeted: “Wasn’t expecting this from Gujarat, but the Coldplay Ahmedabad concert vibe is looking much better than the Mumbai one. The lights, infrastructure, and crowd are perfectly syncing with the vibe.” This praise was echoed by many others who noted how seamlessly the event was executed, with the city’s facilities contributing to a flawless concert experience.

Ahmedabad’s road quality and traffic management were another highlight. @siddharth_iitm tweeted, “Ahmedabad is at least 10 years ahead of Bangalore in terms of road quality, footpaths, traffic management, and traffic signals.” He pointed out that the city’s roads were in pristine condition, well-lit, and clearly marked—providing a sense of order and safety for both residents and visitors.

Ahmedabad: A Clean, Welcoming, and Efficient City

The city’s cleanliness and efficient public transport system also stood out, with metros running late into the night to accommodate concertgoers. One attendee, @priyesh_sharma, expressed their admiration, saying, “Bhai, dikh gaya Modi ka Gujarat, man is a legend for how he has developed Gujarat… every one agreed that there’s a decent difference between average Indian cities and Ahmedabad.”

The welcoming nature of Ahmedabad’s locals added to the city’s charm. First-time visitors were pleasantly surprised by the city’s vibrancy and liveliness, even without the presence of alcohol. @maahirpanchal tweeted: “I think this concert is most people’s first time in Ahmedabad, and they’re discovering that Gujarat is actually way more lively and developed than what they imagined it to be—even without all the legal alcohol.”

Boost to Local Economy and Businesses

The Coldplay concert wasn’t just a cultural triumph—it also provided a substantial economic boost to Ahmedabad. Over 1 lakh visitors descended on the city for the two-day event, with many coming from outside Gujarat. This surge in visitors resulted in a windfall for local businesses, ranging from hotels and restaurants to street vendors and transportation services.

Minister Harsh Sanghavi highlighted the economic impact, stating, “The Narendra Modi Stadium has emerged as a hub for economic growth in Ahmedabad. The Coldplay concert is just the latest example of how the stadium’s massive capacity and world-class facilities are bringing global attention to the city.” Reports estimate that the two-day event generated over ₹300 crores in business for local sectors, proving that major events like this can significantly boost the local economy.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Vision for Ahmedabad

The transformation of Ahmedabad is largely credited to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who, as Gujarat’s Chief Minister, spearheaded many reforms to enhance the city’s infrastructure and overall development. The Narendra Modi Stadium, once a “controversial project” as per the opponents, has now become a symbol of Ahmedabad’s growth and global stature.

As @kartikeyatanna put it, “I was a critic of the decision to name the stadium after Modi. I now change my mind. He deserves everything he’s got and more.” The stadium’s success as a venue for international events like the Coldplay concert further solidifies its place as a key asset for the city.

Business magnate Anand Mahindra also weighed in on Ahmedabad’s rise, tweeting, “The moment when the world discovered that India is the new frontier of live entertainment… Coldplay. Ahmedabad.” His words encapsulate the shift in perception towards Ahmedabad as a key player in India’s entertainment and tourism sectors.

Future of Ahmedabad: A Promising Cultural and Event Destination

Following the success of the Coldplay concert, Ahmedabad has firmly established itself as a global destination for events. With its robust infrastructure, vibrant culture, and welcoming atmosphere, the city is set to attract more international concerts, sports events, and cultural festivals in the future.

As @surajit_ghosh2 aptly noted, “Coldplay concert in Ahmedabad seems to have outshined Mumbai’s with its perfect execution.” With its continued growth and development, Ahmedabad is quickly becoming a top choice for global artists and event organizers. The Coldplay concert may have marked a defining moment for the city, but it is only the beginning of what promises to be an exciting future for this dynamic metropolis.

As Ahmedabad continues to grow and evolve, it will undoubtedly remain a shining example of India’s potential as a thriving cultural and economic hub.

The sheer grandeur of the Coldplay concert in Ahmedabad owes deep gratitude to one man – Narendra Modi.

Gujarat before Modi was incremental. Gujarat since Modi exploded.

He tapped into Gujarati asmita in a way like never before. No stubborn insistence on adherence to culture, language or way of life.

While Gujaratis have always been entrepreneurial, he pushed them to think at an unprecedented scale and maximize collective potential.

His governance happened at a dazzling scale starting from the Vibrant Gujarat summits to getting pathbreaking reforms done for crores of people.

I was a critic of the decision to name the stadium after Modi. I now change my mind. He deserves everything he’s got and more.

Bhai dikh gaya Modi ka Gujarat, man is a legend for how he has developed Gujarat, we were 4 friends including foreigners who were visiting Gujarat for the first time and trust me every one agreed that there’s a decent difference between average Indian cities and Ahemdabad that I have seen. Cleanliness, infra everything is ages ahead of cities like Gurgaon.

Shout out to administration for managing the 100k+ crowd, running metros till late night. Ahemdabad definitely deserves more such events for people around the world to see how we are faring. The only issue would be the nasty surge pricing, this should be worked on and Locals are welcoming 🙏

Thanks to Coldplay, lakhs of people are realising that Ahmedabad is a fantastic city. Excellent roads, great food (minus the cheese), friendly people, no alcohol, and can get from A to B in 30 min tops. Only if the summers were more forgiving.

Wasn’t expecting this from gujarat, but the Coldplay ahmedabad concert vibe is looking much better than the Mumbai one. The lights, infrastructure, and crowd are perfectly syncing with the vibe. Not far when artists will prefer this venue over others after this concert.

Ahmedabad is at least 10 years ahead of Bangalore in terms of road quality, footpaths, traffic management, traffic signals, etc.

Bangalore is in shambles. 🙁

Here, every traffic signal has a working timer with bright lights.
This alone reduces driver anxiety, and makes them stop with patience.

Can’t believe that such a basic thing is missing in almost all signals of Bangalore.

Bangalore is so dusty that signal lights are not even visible.

Roads are so wide and lane markings are quite prominent.

It’s like markings were done just yesterday.

Looking at Bangalore, I used to believe that Indian road quality is going down.
After looking at Ahmedabad, I realised that It’s not India, it’s just Bangalore!

I couldn’t find any potholes on Ahmedabad roads.

Moreover, the city is well lit.
At night, the city looks bright and happening.

It’s surprising that this can directly affect the mood of the population.

People are generally happy and smiling.

Whereas, Bangalore is dark! Forget bright happening lights, even basic street lights don’t work.
Is that why people are generally sad and angry in Bangalore?
