Coldplay Magic: 112 chartered flights arrive in 3 days at Ahmedabad airport; 47k passengers on single day

Ahmedabad: The recently held Coldplay concert in the city has broken several records, from being the band’s biggest show to garnering the highest-ever single-day metro passenger traffic. The concert has also set a new record for Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport.

Coldplay fans started arriving in the city on January 24 for the concert, which was held at Narendra Modi Stadium on the 25th and 26th. During these three days, a total of 980 flights arrived at Ahmedabad Airport, carrying a record 1.38 lakh travelers.

On the first day of the concert, 340 flights, including domestic, international, and chartered flights, were handled at Ahmedabad Airport. With these, 47,000 passengers arrived in the city, which is the highest-ever number of arrivals in a single day.

Prior to this, the maximum number of passengers arriving in a single day was 44,253 on December 12, but this record was also broken due to Coldplay.

It is noteworthy that on normal days, an average of 34,000 passengers travel on 250 flights per day at Ahmedabad Airport. However, during the three days of the Coldplay concert, passenger traffic increased by 30 to 40 percent.

In total, 112 chartered flights arrived over the three days. On January 25, a maximum of 40 luxury jets carrying businessmen, their family members, and leaders arrived. DeshGujarat
