Rajkot: A sessions court has sentenced three accused, including Rajmoti Oil Mill owner Sameer Shah, to life imprisonment for the 2016 murder of the company’s Ahmedabad branch manager, Dinesh Daxini.
Sameer Shah, the owner of Rajmoti Mill and then-president of the Rajkot Chamber of Commerce and Saurashtra Oil Mills Association, was arrested from Jaipur in May 2016 for allegedly being involved in the murder of his employee, Daxini.
The case dates back to February 2016, when Daxini was allegedly kidnapped from Ahmedabad by individuals sent by Shah and brought to Rajkot, where he was beaten on charges of financial fraud in Shah’s firm. He was then taken to the Bedipara police station to make him confess to the alleged crime before the police. ASI Yogesh Bhatt allegedly beat him to death while trying to extract money. Daxini’s health deteriorated, and he was taken to a government hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on March 2.
Later, Sameer Gandhi became a witness, and based on evidence and witness statements, the Sessions Court sentenced Rajmoti Oil Mill owner Sameer Shah, driver Kripal Singh Chudasama, and ASI Yogesh Bhatt to life imprisonment. Since Sameer Shah and Kripal Singh Chudasama were out on bail, the police have now taken them into custody and will transfer them to jail, while ASI Yogesh Bhatt is already incarcerated. DeshGujarat
