Ahmedabad: Another case of wrong food delivery via online food delivery apps has come to light in Ahmedabad. In this incident, a customer ordered a vegetarian biryani from a restaurant via Swiggy, only to receive a non-vegetarian biryani instead.
The incident occurred on Sunday night when Mehul, an individual from a vegetarian family, ordered a Veg Biryani from The Biryani Life through Swiggy. However, he received a non-veg biryani. This mix-up led to significant health issues for the customer, who experienced a deterioration in their health after consuming the dish. Mehul had to visit a doctor and was prescribed medication. Meanwhile, acting on the complaint of the customer, the city civic body has served the unit with a closure notice and has sealed it.
Speaking to the media, Mehul said, “I had ordered a veg biryani from Swiggy, but they sent a non-veg biryani, which is not what I ordered. After this, I contacted the customer support of Swiggy, which assured me that they would check. This has not only hurt my religious sentiments but made me ill. I vomited and had to see a doctor at night after consuming just one spoon. I have lodged a complaint with the Food Department of AMC (Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation), demanding strict action against the food unit. I also visited the unit, but no valid response was provided.”
“I am a Brahmin, and no one in my family has ever consumed non-vegetarian food. I mistakenly consumed one spoon, and now I am feeling very low and somewhat depressed that this happened. These incidents have been happening again and again with no resolution,” Mehul added.
It is noteworthy that the food sold under the brand name “The Biryani Life” was prepared at the Rebel Fast Food Products unit located in South Bopal. The unit has admitted the mistake, and it has come to light that both veg and non-veg items were being prepared at the same location, causing cross-contamination. DeshGujarat
