Vadodara: Last rites of renowned builder and owner of Suncity Group, Samir Shah, were performed today at Vadiwadi Crematorium in the city. Shah tragically passed away after drowning in the River Ganga in Rishikesh on Sunday.
Samir Shah was in Rishikesh to attend a destination wedding of another city-based builder, Sanjay Patel’s son. He, along with some of his friends, went to Rudraprayag to take a holy dip in the Ganga. As per reports, while taking the dip, Shah’s hand slipped from the chain present at the riverbank, and he was swept away by the heavy current of the Ganga River.
Panicked by the incident, his friends and family members informed the local authorities. A team from SDRF and NDRF launched a search and rescue operation on Sunday. The team conducted a search operation for 5 to 10 kilometers along the river, but Samir’s body was not found by Sunday night. The search resumed on Monday morning, and the SDRF team found Samir’s body at Sai Ghat near Triveni Sangam. Later, Samir’s family brought his body back to Vadodara late on Monday night by air ambulance, and his last rites were performed at the Vadiwadi crematorium this afternoon. DeshGujarat
