Out of the 208 approved posts of IPS officers in Gujarat, 198 posts have been filled: Minister

Gandhinagar: Responding to a question asked in the Legislative Assembly regarding the approved posts of IPS officers in the state, Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi said that as on 31st December 2024, a total of 208 posts of IPS officers have been approved in the state. Out of which, 198 posts have been filled. In this too, one post was filled last month and now there is a shortage of 9 posts. The remaining vacancies will also be filled quickly.

Replying to a supplementary question regarding the number of IPS officers from the state who are on deputation to the Centre, the Minister added that as per the central policy, 45 IPS officers from the state can be on deputation to the Centre, whereas only 24 IPS officers from the state of Gujarat are on deputation to the Centre.

He said the important task of carrying out the entire process of police recruitment in Gujarat is being handled by a woman IPS officer, Dr. Neerja Gotra.
